Prepping for 2020? Read this!
Get yourself ready for an aligned 2020 that you get to design from you own blueprint of what you know works and what it takes then put it into action to make it happen for YOU! Let’s GO!
For this intention setting exercise, grab your journal or simply a piece of paper and your pen.
First, you need to review and reflect on your year.
REVIEW & REFLECT: If you like, you can make two columns to help sort out these reflections perhaps separating the lists into two aspects of your life such as professional and personal or maybe family and personal.
Here are some prompts to get you started:
Looking back over the year what would you consider to be your highlights? Give some thought to what the highlights were over the year, what stood out to be the most positive, exciting and shining stars for you.
As you reflect on this year, give some thought to what comments, feedback and input made you smile
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
How did you define success? How will you define it going forward?
What successes made you shine that you worked hard for?
Now, thinking over the year what lessons did you learn? Categorize these lessons into the lessons that helped you to grow and the lessons that helped you to shine and then list why for each.
What feedback or input helped you to grow and shape you in the best ways?
What worked well?
What didn’t work so well that you would do differently?
PLAN: This is where you get to create your 2020!
How do you want to feel in 2020? What does it look like, feel like? Picture it and write it out as if it is today. Maybe it’s a word, a phrase or a whole paragraph.
What actions and steps would you have to take to get you to this feeling?
Would you have to learn anything new or adopt habits or behaviors?
Ask yourself are you doing these things now? Are you in alignment with how you want to feel entering 2020?
After you have identified HOW you want to FEEL and WHAT you need to DO in order to get there, you then have to map it out, meaning plan ahead.
Plan out on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis the steps, actions, habits and behaviors you need to take to help you create the 2020 you want. This is a crucial step that may require more time and thought. Take your time and think through how you will incorporate your action steps to get you closer to your goals. Keep in mind other commitments you have in your schedule to ensure all your priorities remain aligned. Tip: have a plan b for when “life gets in the way” because things to come up and cause your plan to get derailed. Plan B is key to have for the times when your action step didn’t go as planned, you can then execute plan B.
MOVE FORWARD: This is where it all comes together. This is the ACTION phase.
Here you GO! Follow the plan you put in place. It’s key that you set monthly reminders to do a check-in with yourself to ensure you are still on track with your plan and feeling in alignment with your goals and habits you wish and desire for yourself in your life.
